What is your role at Aging Wisdom?

Director of Learning Innovation

What made you want to work in the field of aging?

I spent 20 years living in the UK, where I dedicated much of my career to middle and higher-level education. Teaching and mentoring students were deeply fulfilling for me, as I saw firsthand the impact that education can have on individuals’ lives, shaping their futures and expanding their perspectives. After relocating back to Seattle during the pandemic, I pivoted towards corporate education, seeking new challenges and opportunities.

It was during this time that I crossed paths with Lisa and learned about Aging Wisdom (AW). I was drawn to AW’s mission and its commitment to supporting older adults through consultation, personalized guidance, and education. I found the idea of helping individuals navigate the aging process with dignity, purpose, and empowerment incredibly compelling. It felt like a natural extension of my background in education.

How has your job changed in the time you’ve worked at Aging Wisdom?

When I first joined Aging Wisdom, my focus was very much internally oriented. In my first year, I concentrated on streamlining, refining, and scaling company processes to ensure that we had the right infrastructure to support our growth and deliver consistent, high-quality service to our clients.

As I moved into my second year at AW, my role shifted toward a more outward-facing focus. I started working more closely on building and nurturing strategic partnerships, as well as developing external educational resources. This shift allowed me to connect with a broader network of professionals and to explore how we could collaborate to enhance the support provided to older adults and their families.

What do you love about your job?

What really drew me to AW was the opportunity to be part of a team doing meaningful work. As I learned more about how AW supports individuals and families in navigating the challenges of aging, I felt a deep alignment with my own values and sense of purpose. The team at AW is absolutely AMAZING—the work our Care Managers and Creative Engagement Specialists do is truly inspiring, and we have an exceptional admin team that ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes to support direct client work. Beyond the incredible team, the work itself is incredibly meaningful, and I’m continually impressed by the impact we have on the lives of those we serve. Joining AW has been an opportunity to be part of something that not only matches my passions but also gives me a chance to contribute to a cause I deeply care about.

Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.

I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built with allied professionals and referral sources. At Aging Wisdom, we’re dedicated to being a valuable resource for others working to support older adults, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to that effort. These collaborations not only strengthen our services but also expand our ability to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults and their families.

What motivates you?

I’m motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives through education and personal connections. I believe in the power of learning not just to acquire knowledge, but to empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. Whether it’s helping someone understand their options, guiding them through difficult decisions, or simply listening to their story, I’m driven by the chance to support a team that is making a real difference in the lives of older adults and their families. Being part of a field that’s growing in both relevance and importance is exciting, and I’m eager to contribute to the ongoing conversation around aging, helping to shape a future where everyone has the resources and support they need to age with confidence and dignity.
