What is your role at Aging Wisdom?
I’m the Accounting Manager. Right now, my focus is on streamlining and consolidating our systems, reducing redundancies, and keeping cash flowing smoothly. I’ve helped lower our average accounts receivable balance by staying on top of client payments and improving follow-up processes. I also partner closely with Lisa to identify behind-the-scenes improvements—changes that create space for the team to do their best work for our clients. Looking ahead, I’m excited to take on more forecasting and budgeting work that supports strategic growth and long-term sustainability.

What made you want to work in the field of aging?
Before joining Aging Wisdom, I had spent 15 years working in tech. When the company I was with was acquired, I was laid off—and in hindsight, it was a gift. It gave me the time and space to be with my mom during her final months. I became part of her care team and got to witness the impact of truly compassionate support—from the social workers to the hospice team who walked alongside us.

After she passed, I remember thinking, Maybe I should go to nursing school. I wanted to spend my days doing work that made a real difference in someone’s life. That experience completely shifted how I saw my own purpose.

When I found the Accountant position at Aging Wisdom, it felt like the right fit. It gave me the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, human-centered work without having to completely pivot my career. I still get to use the skills I’ve built over the years—but now in a way that feels deeply aligned with what matters most. It’s a full-circle moment—and no nursing school required. My mom always believed in doing work that helped people. I think she’d be proud to see where I landed.

How has your job changed in the time you’ve worked at Aging Wisdom?
It’s evolved as I have. At first, I focused on learning the day-to-day, but as I got more comfortable, I started looking for ways to work smarter—not just harder. I’ve helped streamline systems, digitize processes, and navigate a few tough transitions, including a major organizational shift. Now I’m shifting from just doing the work to designing how the work gets done—and I’m already thinking about what comes next in building more efficiency and resilience into our operations.

What do you love about your job?
I love that I’m not just crunching numbers—I’m helping create a foundation that lets our team serve clients with compassion and excellence. I’m wired to make things work better, and this role gives me a chance to do that every day. And honestly, the people here are a huge part of it—big hearts, deep smarts, and a shared sense of purpose. That’s rare, and it’s something I want to keep building on.

Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.
When I joined, we already had tools like Emburse for expense tracking and BambooHR for HR, but there was room to tighten things up. I helped train our team—many of whom aren’t naturally tech-savvy—so they could use Emburse more confidently and consistently. One of the bigger wins was transitioning payroll into BambooHR. That move not only gave our team clearer access to their own pay info and documents but also reduced payroll-related admin time by about 30% and cut overhead costs by consolidating platforms. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes change that adds up over time—and positions us well for future growth.

What motivates you?
Efficiency, impact, and the people I do it for. I love solving puzzles—especially the kind that make things smoother for others. I’m motivated by progress, and I’m always looking ahead to how small changes now can create big momentum later. If I can make someone’s hard day a little easier—even if they never know it was me—I’m doing something right.
