What is your role at Aging Wisdom?
Creative Engagement Specialist
What made you want to work in the field of aging?
I wanted to make a little difference bringing a bit of light to people in the sunset of their lives.
How has your job changed in the time you’ve worked at Aging Wisdom?
I’m grateful that my job as a Creative Engagement Specialist continues to be focused on the well-being of our clients. I’ve changed clients, but the focus on how they want to spend their time is still a priority.
What do you love about your job?
The joy of being by my clients’ sides as they reconnect with music, physical exercise, poetry, outings and seeing them regain their joy and purpose in their everyday lives.
Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.
A few years ago, I had a client who loved sports and music. We attended Mariners’ games and the symphony. We also enjoyed conversations and outings afterwards, including a visit to the cemetery where his family was buried. There he told me that after he is gone, there will be no one else to remember him nor be with him when he dies. I offered that I’ll be there. Luckily, I was able to hold his hand when he died and once a year I continue to visit his grave. I made one client a promise and I’ve kept it.
What motivates you?
Helping each client find new ways of achieving their goals, laughing, and discovering new places, regardless of how big or small they are.
