Aging Wisdom is bursting with pride to announce that our founder and principal, Lisa Mayfield, has received the Adele Elkind Lifetime Achievement Award from the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA).
This is the highest honor from ALCA. The Adele Elkind Award criteria considers the number of years a member is active in the care management field, the individual’s commitment to promoting and advancing the practice of Aging Life Care professionals, leadership, professionalism, support, and mentoring.
As Dr. Jullie Gray, Lisa’s former business partner and principal emerita at Aging Wisdom, shared “This is an acknowledgment of Lisa’s incredible leadership, dedication to the field, collaborative spirit, and commitment to excellence in the field of Aging Life Care Management. I could not be prouder of my former business partner. Lisa embodies the spirit of Adele Elkind!” (Dr. Gray was the 2019 recipient of the Adele Elkind Award).
Amy O’Rourke, a dear friend of Lisa’s, as well as a professional colleague, and last year’s recipient, shared in her presentation of the award: “Words that have been used to describe this recipient (Lisa did not know at this point that she was the awardee) include selfless, generous, lack of ego, humility. She does things you wouldn’t even realize. There’s no fanfare. She serves on boards related to hunger intervention, housing, mental health, and Rotary. She’s everywhere, but you wouldn’t know it, because she does it quietly, selflessly.”
Trained and licensed as a Mental Health Counselor, Geriatric Mental Health Specialist, and a Certified Care Manager, Mayfield brings over two decades of experience working with older adults and their families. Lisa founded Aging Wisdom in 2003 because she knew there was a better way to serve and support people who are facing their own life changes or those of a loved one. Aging Wisdom’s mission is to inspire hope through creative solutions, so our clients live well, care well, and age well.
As a member of the Aging Life Care Association and Past President, Lisa has met stringent education, experience, and certification requirements and adheres to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. She is an award-winning care manager and is a Fellow in the Leadership Academy of the Aging Life Care Association. Lisa is also past president of The Rainier Club, a member of Rotary 4 Seattle, and the Washington Women’s Foundation.
