What is your role at Aging Wisdom?

Certified Care Manager

What made you want to work in the field of aging?

I’ve always been called an old soul. When I was a kid, I’d often go to work with my mom, who was the Director of Nursing at a senior living facility. Both of my grandmothers lived there as well, so spending time in that environment felt very natural to me. I would visit with residents, help with small tasks, go on walks with them, and volunteered in the skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit. I loved listening to their stories and simply being in their company. Those early experiences gave me a deep respect and appreciation for older adults, and they sparked what has become a lifelong passion for working in the field of aging.

How has your job changed in the time you’ve worked at Aging Wisdom?

Over the past year, I’ve gradually started helping with initial consultations and client intakes. I really enjoy this part of the work. From getting to hear our clients’ stories, understanding their needs, seeing the bigger picture, and helping families break things down into manageable steps. I like helping clients and families prioritize what matters most to them and helping them move forward in a way that feels supportive and achievable.

What do you love about your job?

I love that no two days are ever the same. There’s so much variety in this line of work. I really enjoy coaching and educating clients and families, so they feel empowered and confident in their decision-making process. It’s rewarding to present options and ideas that may not have been previously considered, and to help them choose a path that feels right for them. I also love the creativity this work allows. Thinking outside the box to find solutions to meet the unique needs of my clients keeps me energized and inspired.

Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.

I don’t know if I have one specific story to share, but what stands out most are the moments when I’ve been able to connect with someone after their family has said, “We’ve tried everything, and nothing works.” “They won’t ever change.” In those situations, I’ve learned that slowing down and focusing on building trust and relationship with the individual rather than jumping straight into solutions, can make all the difference. When that connection is there, even the smallest step forward feels meaningful. Watching someone begin to open up or accept support, however small, feels like a quiet but powerful win.

What motivates you?

I’m motivated by the relationships I build with my clients and their families. It means a lot to me to be someone they can trust during what’s often a vulnerable or uncertain time. I find purpose in offering people a sense of calm, clarity, and connection throughout this process.

On a personal level, I really get how important it is to have a meaningful connection with someone during a challenging or uncertain time. When my own mom needed care, our family faced some hard decisions and often didn’t know where to turn. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation of what families are going through and made me even more committed to helping others navigate these moments with confidence and peace of mind. Knowing I can ease that burden, even just a little, is what keeps me showing up every day.
