What is your role at Aging Wisdom?
I work in an administrative role, part time, supporting the Leadership, Care Management, and Creative Engagement teams so they can focus on providing exceptional care and guidance to our clients and their families.
What made you want to work in the field of aging?
My dad lived with Parkinson’s disease for seven years before passing away in 2023. While the initial diagnosis was difficult, watching the progression of the disease was the truly challenging part. Each year, and at every stage, he lost more of his abilities and the activities that once brought him joy.
Our entire family had to continually adjust, and those years were especially hard for my mom—not only as his wife of more than fifty years, but also as his caregiver. Working for Aging Wisdom gives me the opportunity to support work that directly impacts individuals and families as they navigate similar challenges. It feels deeply meaningful to be part of an organization that understands and honors these experiences.
How has your job changed during your time at Aging Wisdom?
I originally worked at Aging Wisdom from 2011 to 2014 and had the opportunity to return this past year. The organization has grown significantly since my first time here, which has brought many changes to support a larger and more dynamic team. Even since my return, my role continues to evolve as I adapt to new needs and find ways to best support our client-facing teams in the important work they do every day.
What do you love about your job?
What I love most about Aging Wisdom is the meaningful work it does with individuals and families. From my own family’s experience, I know just how invaluable this kind of support can be. While I don’t work directly with clients, I really enjoy working behind the scenes to help ensure that our Leadership, Care Management, and Creative Engagement teams have what they need to be successful and to keep everything running smoothly.
Tell us about a professional success story you’re proud of.
I’m proud of helping create systems and processes that allow our team to work more efficiently and feel supported in their roles. Knowing that my work helps free up time and energy for our care managers and engagement specialists—so they can focus fully on clients and families—feels like a meaningful contribution to Aging Wisdom’s mission.
What motivates you?
Our amazing team! Aging Wisdom is full of dedicated, kind, generous, and knowledgeable individuals who support clients and families through what can be very challenging experiences. I’m motivated by the opportunity to support our team so they, in turn, can continue to support our clients with compassion and excellence.
